Behavior It is your responsibility and is essential that you redirect inappropriate behavior and obedience. Behavior training can be used to control you boxer and discourage bad and inappropriate behavior. It is never to early to begin teaching your boxer acceptable behaviors. Young boxer puppies can learn best in calm, quiet situations with minimal distractions so that they can focus on the lesson you are teaching. Remeber that your boxer puppy is like a small child. His behavior is related to curiosity or not having appropriate outlets for exploration and play. To direct your boxer to appropriate behavior, follow these boxer basics: Get your boxer's attention by using a low-pitched, serious voice. Say "Ahhh!" This will startle him and he will stop what he is doing and look to you for further direction. Then provide your boxer with an acceptable alternative behavior or distraction. You should now praise your boxer for the correct behavior. In an upbeat, high-pitched voice say "Good boy", "Good puppy" or "Good girl" and reward you boxer with calm petting or a treat. Please do not use direct, interactive punishment. This may frighten you puppy. In some situations you leash youR boxer to take control of the behavior and redirect him to what is appropriate.
